Shocked with the language switching

It was a long time fighting for the using of mother tongue in teaching both mathematics and science subjects by non-government organization (NGO) and activist in Malaysia. By looking at the aim of educational system in Malaysia was to create first class mentality human capitals to help in develop this country. The used of English as the medium language in teaching mathematics and science is a good start to improve to the use of English and to give students more time to learn English. This can be said as ‘kill two bird with one stone’.
What happens in this issue is the time of implementation of the using English in teaching mathematics and science are being politicized. It is correct our mother tongue is important but are we forgetting that the development of our nation is more important? The aim of 1 Malaysia would not be success if the educational systems in Malaysia are still remain the same even we have been independent for almost 52 years but our mind set are not independent in many aspects.
The politician in Malaysia should not use this as their platform to seek vote from the people. The tactic thy use will only leave the nation lagged far if compared with the developed nations. When the time we compare our economics we will take least develop or developing nations, but in this issue why are we compare with Japan? Everyone know that Japanese have the strong economy and if we look at its educational system, they are good than us. The Japanese read more than us, and that’s why they are better. Even some of them are prefer to send their child oversea for learning than in Malaysia. This proved that they are not confidence with the policies they have done all this time.
The mindset of the old generations should be change. They have to start thinking about the future. If this situation is remaining not changed then our vision would not be success in the year 2020 if we keep on saying that we can (boleh) but in reality we are not trying to achieve it. There will also a lot of new policies when the changing of the educational minister. Some of the policies will be terminated and replace with the other policies. If the policy is good for the students then we will accept it but what we have is the reversed of those particular policies.
The reason of the teachers can’t teach or they have barriers in using English is not a problem because the time of implement this still short and we still need to improve it. This can’t be a reason to terminate it just for seeking vote in the general election. This is what can be concluded as the different between developed and developing nations.
